Field Trip FAQs

How easy is it to book a field trip?

Watermark hosts tens of thousands of students every year. We make it seamless and easy for you to book a field trip. Our Group Tour Specialists will create a custom itinerary for your group. Along with your contract, you will receive directions, parking information, a map, and other appropriate paperwork (menus, other instructions, etc.). You will be given a receipt for any payment you make to Watermark. Ready to book? Schedule a field trip!

How far in advance can I book?

You can book field trips well in advance! In fact, we recommend booking early to secure your preferred date. We can also accommodate last-minute bookings, though there may be less flexibility in available dates and times. We always suggest teachers call us at the beginning of the school year or the end of the previous school year to guarantee a preferred date.

What if it rains on the day of our trip?

Our field trips in Annapolis and Baltimore take place rain or shine. If you have concerns about the weather, please call our Group Tour Specialists at 410-268-7601 x 200.

What time will our trip start?

Our trips are customized to meet the needs of your group. We offer several tours and cruises per day, so there is flexibility that allows us to work with your time schedule. Your group should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time. If your group arrives late, the end time will remain the same.

Where will our field trip start?

The start location of your trip will vary depending on your itinerary. Be sure to check the information provided by your Group Tour Specialist and reach out if you are unsure.

Where can we eat?

For field trips in Annapolis, there are outdoor spaces available at both the City Dock and the Maryland State House for students to eat bagged lunches. For field trips in Baltimore, there are a variety of park locations around the Inner Harbor. Both cities have a variety of restaurants, and we can help with extras like box lunches and student-friendly menus. Students are welcome to eat their own lunches on board our cruises.

Can students carry lunches and water through the Maryland State House?

Yes, we encourage students and chaperones to carry their lunches with them throughout their tour.

Are the field trips accessible?

Most of our walking tours and cruises are accessible. Please let us know in advance if you have any special requests, and we will try our best to accommodate!

How many chaperones do we need?

Please follow your school’s guidelines for chaperones.

Can non-chaperone parents join the field trip?

To maintain our student-to-guide ratio, it is difficult to accommodate last-minute additions.

I’ve scheduled a cruise in my itinerary. Will our group be the only ones on the boat?

Our cruises are open to all. Due to the large demand, there may be multiple school groups on board, giving your students the opportunity to make new friends!

Photo IDs for Adults

You will need photo identification to enter the Maryland State House and the U.S. Naval Academy. Please see the USNA’s ID requirements here. There will be a security checkpoint and metal detector at the Maryland State House and U.S. Naval Academy.
