Why Choose Annapolis Explorers Summer Camp?
Crafts, cruises, and period-attired tour guides will immerse your child in the history, culture, and fun of Annapolis!
Summer Camp Overview
Nestled in the historic heart of Annapolis, Maryland, Annapolis Explorers Summer Camp offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for rising 1st through 4th graders to immerse themselves in the history, culture, and fun of our Capital City! This week-long full-day camp combines hands-on learning with outdoor exploration, fostering curiosity and a deeper connection to Annapolis’ unique cultural and ecological legacy.

What to Expect
Explorers will step back in time and experience the history of colonial Annapolis through engaging visits to interactive historic sites from Historic Annapolis like Hogshead (a 17th century tradesperson’s home and workshop) and the William Paca House Kitchen. Campers become junior historians as they learn about colonial schooling, experience traditional cooking methods, and explore authentic household artifacts. Guided by period-attired interpreters, they discover the stories of all classes of early Annapolitans in a hands-on, immersive way that makes history exciting and memorable.
We will explore the lush gardens of the historic William Paca House, where learning blooms! Kids discover local plants, pollinators, and their vital roles in the ecosystem. Through hands-on activities, they uncover historical uses of herbs and flowers for medicine and cooking, blending science and history into a fun, sensory-filled adventure in nature’s living classroom.
Campers will embark on a STEM adventure in partnership with the Severn River Association, exploring the river’s dynamic ecosystem. Activities include oyster shucking demonstrations, live oyster observations, food web diagrams, osprey nest scouting, and more. This hands-on experience will allow campers to engage with the local waterways, deepening their understanding while having a great time on the water!
By week’s end, campers gain not only knowledge but also a profound appreciation for Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay. Annapolis Explorers Summer Camp is the perfect blend of learning and adventure, sparking a lifelong love for history, science, and environmental stewardship in the next generation of explorers!
