Behind the Scenes: The 7th Annual Queen of All Food Drives

At the end of each year, Watermark teammembers come together for a cause. Over pizza and teamwork, we decorate Harbor Queen – in many ways, the prized jewel of our fleet – with lights, inflatable snowmen and any oversized holiday ribbon or piece of décor we can find. Our Queen is transformed into a Lady with a mission: raise funds and collect food for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. What started as a creative way to support the Food Bank after a devastating theft many years ago has become an annual tradition for us.

The Harbor Queen was decorated a few days prior to the Parade to a general decorative theme of “the brighter the better.” A snowy evening didn’t prevent people from venturing downtown to spectate. During the evening, approximately 275 people stepped aboard Harbor Queen to support the Anne Arundel County Food Bank and enjoy hot cocoa, cookies and an impressive light display both on the boat and on the water! Held during the 35th Annual Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade, the 7th Annual Queen of All Food Drives raised $2,632 and 261 pounds of food. The donation value is equivalent to 12,517 pounds of food which will feed 228 families of 4 for a month. That included a $100 donation made after the event by a regular Watermark guest.

We’re so humbled by the generosity of our employees who make this fundraiser happen each year, our community who supports it and our regular guests who visit us year-long to take part in what we’re offering. Enjoy these behind the scenes photos by Rick Brady of our team decorating the Queen!
