Watermark Made a Splash in Baltimore for Fleet Week
(Baltimore, MD) – Where do Watermark’s Annapolis boats go during Boat Show? To join their Baltimore cohorts for Fleet Week! The city of Baltimore hosted an impressive and memorable Inaugural Maryland Fleet Week and Air Show. The entire event was as flawless as a Blue Angels performance! To ensure a successful week in Baltimore, Watermark brought most of its fleet – the largest private fleet in the Chesapeake Bay – from Annapolis to Baltimore. Raven and Annapolitan II, Watermark’s vessels who call Baltimore home, enjoyed the company with the added vessels giving Watermark expanded opportunities to take more people out for the event. Months of planning and coordination with the United States Coast Guard, the Association of Maryland Pilots and Visit Maryland ensured an organized, successful and safe Fleet Week for all of Watermark’s guests. Over the course of four days, Watermark alone was responsible for bringing nearly 1,300 people to Baltimore to observe Fleet Week. They enjoyed cruising around the visiting Naval vessels and watching the Air Shows from aboard five different Watermark yachts.
President of Watermark, Debbie Gosselin says, “Maryland Fleet Week and Air Show was an excellent event for Baltimore and we’re proud to have played a part in bringing guests to the city to get out on the water and enjoy Fleet Week up close and personal. Watermark’s Vessel Operations Team spent months preparing a comprehensive logistics plan that accounted for everything from safety, guest satisfaction, dockage space and delivery for our visiting vessels. Plus we navigated air show timing, employee transportation and shuttling, road closures and more. Our crew members took on the final – and perhaps most important – step of ensuring all of our guests were happy with an excellent view, comfortable seat and cold beverage in hand!”
Watermark’s guests took in Fleet Week onboard Blue Angels Cruises, private yacht charters, group outings – a total of 15 different groups from around the region – and the company’s usual Baltimore cruise offerings, 45-minute Baltimore Harbor Cruise and evening City Lights Cruise. Positive feedback has flooded in from guests praising Fleet Week and Watermark’s cruises. From Mary A on TripAdvisor, “Seeing the airshow from the water was a great experience. We had a family group of seven and the boat was in position the entire time to get a great vantage point of the show. They allowed us to bring snacks onboard but also had snacks and beverages for sale in the snack bar on board. The boat was clean, the crowd was polite, and the show was terrific! The Captain gave a great narration of sites in the harbor on the way out to the show so all could learn a little more about Baltimore. Good value overall!”
Ericspaceman, on TripAdvisor said, “The weather in Baltimore for Fleet Week 2016 was perfect, and the Watermark Cruise to enjoy the airshow from the water was great. There were a good amount of good viewing positions to see the airshow from the boat and even a bar with snacks and drinks downstairs. Special touches incorporate the Captain’s skill and awareness of the show to even pan the boat a few times during the show when the Blue Angels performed some low side to side passes.”
Watermark takes guests on Blue Angels Cruises and private yacht charters annually when they visit Annapolis for USNA Graduation each May. In addition to this year’s Maryland Fleet Week, Watermark actively participated in the 2014 Star-Spangled Spectacular and 2012 Star-Spangled Sailabration. Fleet Week capped off Watermark’s 2016 cruising season in Baltimore. Private yacht charters are available through the end of the year and Raven will host a New Year’s Eve Cruise, open to the public. Regularly scheduled public cruises in Baltimore will resume with Light City Baltimore on March 31, 2017.
