Free War of 1812 Walking Tour led by Francis Scott Key for Maryland Day

(Annapolis, MD) – Oh, say can you see? Francis Scott Key himself will lead a complimentary “War of 1812 in Annapolis” walking tour in celebration of Maryland Day on Saturday, March 22. Annapolis Tours® by Watermark® is proud to offer this tour free to the public in celebration of Maryland’s heritage during Four Rivers Heritage Area’s Maryland Day weekend. Francis Scott Key, portrayed by Frederick Taylor, will lead the tour in 1812 period dress. Four Rivers recognized Taylor as “Interpreter of the Year” in 2013 for his Key interpretation.

Celebrate Maryland’s heritage plus our area’s local connections to the War of 1812 and Francis Scott Key on Maryland Day with a complimentary “War of 1812 in Annapolis” tour. The 2-hour walking tour is a highlighted activity of the 7th Annual Maryland Day Celebration. Watermark is a proud member of the Four Rivers Heritage Area, host of the weekend’s activities. “We developed this tour in partnership with the United States Naval Academy especially for the region’s 1812 Bicentennial celebration. It’s our newest tour and only offered to the public for a limited time,” says Heather Skipper, Director of Land Operations for Watermark. “Frederick Taylor’s award-winning portrayal of Francis Scott Key will add a special bit of magic to this tour for our Maryland Day guests,” says Skipper.

The free, family-friendly tour takes place Saturday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. The tour will begin at Susan Campbell Park at City Dock immediately following the official flag raising ceremony. Miss Teen Maryland Cat Spillane will be in attendance for the flag raising ceremony. Highlights of the tour include…
