The Annapolis Town Crier Proclaims the Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis Downtown is Open for Business
(Annapolis, MD) – The Annapolis Town Crier helped open the doors to Annapolis’ newest hotel in an historic way! This week Squire Frederick Taylor of Annapolis Tours by Watermark joined the Sales team at the Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis Downtown to proclaim the hotel on West Street is now open for business. The “Town Crier” visited businesses in Annapolis, generating plenty of attention by proclaiming – whilst ringing a bell and reading his scroll – that the new hotel, located in the arts district at 174 West Street, is open for business.
“We wanted a fun, friendly way to announce that our doors are open,” says Joy Wemmer, Director of Sales of the brand-new Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis Downtown. “Technology-driven communications have their place, but hospitality calls for a more human touch – and we certainly got that by partnering with Squire Frederick.” Squire Frederick and Ms. Wemmer visited businesses around Annapolis including Realterm Architects, Northrup Grumman, Anne Arundel Medical Center, Rockwell Collins and the USNA Alumni Association with the Squire making a formal proclamation at each.
Heather Skipper, Director of Guide Operations at Watermark says, “Squire Frederick has never met a stranger. He had a great time working with the Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis Downtown and is truly in his element when meeting new people and sharing stories about Annapolis.”
Not only is Squire Frederick a long time team member at Annapolis Tours by Watermark, he was appointed the Town Crier of Annapolis by Mayor Ellen Moyer in 2006. Since then, he's taken on the important role of announcing the news and sharing proclamations in Annapolis, just like the Town Crier did in Colonial times. He's opened the Market House – at least twice – after renovations, introduced former President Jimmy Carter, ridden with the Budweiser Clydesdales at the Military Bowl Parade and announced newlywed couples on land and sea. His services are available through Watermark.
The Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis Downtown will celebrate its official grand opening later this month. Managed by OTO Development, a Johnson Management company, the property offers 121 rooms in a relaxed atmosphere. Guests can dine on-property at Kitchen on West Street which brings Annapolis flair to everyone’s favorite fare.
