Watermark Welcomes the Annapolis Green House

Watermark is the newest Founding One Hundred Supporter of Annapolis Green! Read on to find out more...and why the Shiplap House is involved.

We recently relocated our land operations office to the beautiful historic Shiplap House on Pinkney Street. We are very fortunate to work in the Shiplap House, overseen and cared for by our partners in historic tourism, Historic Annapolis. When the Shiplap House, one of the city’s earliest buildings (circa 1715), was threatened with demolition, Historic Annapolis purchased it. Once restored, the building housed the organization’s main office for many years. The building served as a store and tavern in the eighteenth century and is named for the random width flush siding (called shiplap) on the home. The Shiplap House has recently undergone another renovation and Historic Annapolis' main office is now located inside the James Brice House on East Street. Rumors swirl that the building is haunted; however, we are one of the few businesses in town that thrives on ghost stories so we don't mind!

Moving into a new office is exciting and made all the better by knowing the Maryland Avenue office we moved out of has great new residents moving in! Annapolis Green will soon open the Annapolis Green House in our former space. They're even calling it their "Miracle on Maryland Avenue." Annapolis Green's goal is to make the Annapolis area as Green as possible – a place where sustainability is a way of life and a source of pride. The Annapolis Green House will be more than just their office! It will be the first Green community center of its kind in our historic town, where organizations can meet, showcase their products and services, and together build a sustainable community.

As a company dedicated to celebrating the heritage of the Chesapeake Bay region and a voluntary member of the Passenger Vessel Association's WATERS Program (Voluntary Green Business Practices Program), forming a new relationship with Annapolis Green was an easy decision. Watermark is proud to sign on the newest Founding One Hundred supporter of Annapolis Green. Our support extends to Annapolis Green's mission to connect the community by communicating an environmental message that is meaningful, positive and motivational, engaging residents, businesses, non-profits, government agencies, and visitors, and celebrating success.
