Giving back, volunteering, fundraising...in lights! The Queen of All Food Drives is one of the most fun ways to give back to the local community this season. Our employees spent the afternoon decking out Harbor Queen in holiday lights and decor and Saturday evening she'll light up City Dock and welcome guests onboard for a viewing party to watch the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade. The catch? Well, it's not so much a catch as it is a cause! Simply bring a donation to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank and volunteers from Watermark and the Food Bank will welcome you on board.
On the boat, you'll find light holiday treats provided by Wegman's, live entertainment from the Chesapeake Revelers -- a Victorian singing group -- and the River Run Bar will be open with drinks available for purchase. Harbor Queen will stay dockside for the evening and the night is "open house" style...you are welcome to drop in anytime between 5:30-8:30 pm to make a donation, enjoy a beverage and watch the Parade. With her slip at the very end of City Dock, Queen is the perfect place to watch the Parade.
Nominated by USA Today's Best Holiday Parades, the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade is a magical night on the water of the Annapolis harbor. Boats suddenly appear out of the night illuminated with thousands of colorful lights!
Watermark's Group Tour Specialist Claudette McDonald spearheads the Food Drive each year and tour guides, Captains and crew members pitch in their time to decorate the boat, collect donations and clean up after the event. It's also an easy way for employees to "upcycle" their old holiday lights and decorations!
Over the years, The Queen of All Food Drives has raised over $6,000 and collected 2,000 pounds of food for the local food bank.
Come on out to the Lights Parade and pay Queen a visit! Tip: Dress Warm!
